Over 100 Tailored Blank Welding Machines are producing worldwide approximately 150’000’000 units per year, which are used for building cars more secure with a weight reduction up to 100 kg per body-in-white. The enormous potential, which allows saving material and costs in correlation to laser welding, has reached in the meantime every imaginable industry sector. The rapid development of the laser welding technology, with its increasing performance and its improved efficiency, has contributed to weld economically, not only high quantities of material with a thickness range from 0.5  to 3 mm but even large volumes of material with a thickness from 4 to 15 mm.

The Weight Watcher philosophy extends Soutec's relations more and more out of the Automotive Industry, for example when acting in the infrastructure sector, in the building of ships, trains, busses and trucks, and even in the field of aviation and alternative energy.

Plates, tubes, profiles, hollow bodies can be tailored and economically welded in large volumes with a high quality – for that we have the necessary processing Know-How and to that we are able to provide turn-key solutions.

Especially in the thick wall area > 3 mm still conventional welding systems predominate, like submerged ARC or plasma welding. The Key-Hole Laser Process allows a 100% complete fusion and thereby the wall thickness, respectively the material, can be reduced.
